Read MoreIt was a joy to photograph these Sylvan Lake of the Black Hills of SD engagement pictures for Hunter and Jordanne. Sylvan Lake is absolutely stunning this time of year with everything greening up, the birds singing, and little patches of snow clinging for life at the edges of the lake. All sorts of animals were enjoying themselves: ducks, geese, and squirrels were everywhere. Fish kept splashing up at the surface and we saw a bird dive down for one. It was so much fun traveling for their engagement photos. The natural beauty of the Black Hills is unmatched!!

This sweet couple is preparing for their wedding this September. Our initial plan was to take engagement photos the second weekend of February, but the high in Bismarck was -7F and the low was -32F. Thankfully, everyone was able to get together this Sunday and the weather was a much more agreeable 34F.

The couple was on a hike, a long hike, when they noticed a shed elk antler. Elk antlers are a pretty rare find, so Jenn was extremely excited. At further inspection, Jenn found, “Will you marry me?” Engraved into the side. When she turned around, Thomas was on one knee, ring in hand.
