Sierra and Chance are getting married!!!! So grab your dancin’ shoes, because come September 12, we’ll all be scootin’ to celebrate!

ABOUT THE COUPLE

Chance and Sierra grew up just down the interstate from each other. They met through mutual friends in the high school rodeo scene.

They are a quality time type of couple. They like to go to the gym together, go on walks with their dog, and an array of outdoor sports including archery, duck hunting, and fishing. At home they have a dog, Willie, and a cat, Bennie.

They also enjoy gaming together. Maybe Carson and I will have to play a game of COD Warzone with them sometime!

ABOUT THE SESSION

We met up in the Pukwana & Chamberlain area for the duo’s engagement session- and it was magical- a precursor to their wedding for sure!

We started off their session at a family member’s renovated home. It’s this gorgeous blue number with a beautiful weeping willow, lilac trees, and an old implement on display.

Next, we popped over to another family member’s property. It had tall grass, a small pond, and a rugged, dilapidated building.

With two more stops on our list, we headed over to a scenic outlook on the river. Here we went on a short hike and stopped at a bench for a moment to rest. I’m a sucker for little details and I love this detail of Chance and Sierra holding hands.

Our final stop was a little rocky beach. Sierra was a champ in her wedges on the shore. By this time, Chance was starting to (in good spirits) sulk about his cheeks hurting from all the smiling- so I shot a few silhouettes of the two. I don’t think Chance stopped smiling though. :D

ABOUT THE CUSTOM BRIDAL JACKET

I’ve been drooling over Pinterest’s Custom Bridal Jackets. I love the western, boho, street or rock style that a jacket can give a wedding dress. So! I’ve built a little closet of bridal jackets from the thrift store, ready to be customized.

We discussed the idea over text messages and Sierra was sold. She gave me a general design idea and I drew it up on procreate. She approved, with minor changes, and the prep was just about done.

Sierra was looking for a new jacket, but because of business closing, shipping times, or not being able to try anything on in-store- she wasn’t able to find anything. So I selected one for her. Spoiler alert she loves it.

I used alligator clamps and an art board to mount the jacket.

Next, I drew my outline with a ballpoint pen. In hindsight, this wasn’t the best idea ever. I should have used something much lighter, but it worked.

To make fabric paint, I mixed one part acrylic paint with two parts Folk Art Textile Mixing Medium. The jacket took three layers of paint plus a final tiny, line art layer for the “Mrs. Kiehn” with an acrylic paint pen. This is the first time I’ve used Folk Art Textile Mixing Medium. It’s supposed to make the jacket last longer. Only time will tell if the paint will crack or not.

Sierra loves the jacket. I’m happy that it fits her well and she likes the style & the artwork. I’m twice as happy that it will keep her warm on her September Wedding in the evening.

What would you put on your custom bridal jacket?
