Dominic & Brittanee : Engaged | Bismarck, ND
Let me introduce you to my new friends, Dominic and Brittanee.
This sweet couple is preparing for their wedding this September. Our initial plan was to take engagement photos the second weekend of February, but the high in Bismarck was -7F and the low was -32F. Thankfully, everyone was able to get together this Sunday and the weather was a much more agreeable 34F.
Dominic and Brittanee chose Bismarck’s most iconic photo location: the North Dakota State Capitol. This area offers well kept foliage, lawns and gorgeous architecture. While we moved around the property, we got to know each other better. I brought my Sony A7RIII and Tamron 70-180mm 2.8/F.
I learned that Brittanee is an animal person. The couple currently have a cat together, but Brittanee would love to add a dog to their little family. I’m sure there will be four more paws running through their hallway’s in good time.
Her favorite pass time is either reading or crocheting/knitting. I thought those two would make a good combo- listening to audiobooks while using your hands to knit or crochet- but I’m getting the vibe that Brittanee prefers paper books and listening to music while she knits.
Dominic loves to play games too! We spoke about a card game with beautiful illustrations. Each card has a unique fanciful character and they are all so interesting to look at. I’m a big fan of the cards with light painted on them- maybe the glow from flames or the moon.
He also plays some digital games. I can picture him and Brittanee snuggled up on the couch- Dominic with a controller in hand and Brittanee with her latest crocheting project. I’m sure their cat and dog are curled up by their feet.
Our final stop was Sleepy Hollow, a fanciful park just down the road from the Capitol Buildings. Here, I swapped out the Tamron lens for the Sigma 35mm 1.4/F. I’m a fan of the huge aperture, sharp focus and wide angle of this lens.
The three of us went on a short hike around the park- something I’ve never done before- and took in the melting winter scene. The golden light from the sun set was hardly kissing the top of a nearby hill.
I’m wild for light, so of course we had to chase it up the hill. I’m so thankful that Dominic and Brittanee were up to the challenge becuase we captured my favorite photo of their session- look at the gorgeous light; their flushed, in-love cheeks; their hair tossing in the wind; and the sun kissing the tops of the head- ugh now I’m melting.
Brittanee and I connected at the BisMan Bridal Show this last October. I’m so thankful for Lacey and her team for making this possible.
A BIG THANK YOU to Dominic and Brittanee for trusting me with their engagement photos. I had a blast with you two and cannot wait for your big day.
