6 Tips For The Modern Bride

Hello Loves!

Welcome back to my blog! Today, I have Six Wedding Day Tips For The Modern Bride. I’ve been to a wedding or two and have seen what works and what doesn’t. These are my top five tips to improve the quality of life for your wedding day and every day you reflect back on it.

French Bustle

The French do it best. French toast. French fries. French kisses. The French know what's up: especially when it comes to bustles.

You can find a list of different bustles and their descriptions here. My favorite one by far is the french bustle. Time and time again I have seen other bustles fall or break. Once a bustle is broken, the only solution is often a quick stitch with a needle and thread on-site, or the bride has to carry her train around for the rest of the day. Nothing says classy like shaking your guest’s hand with a dirty train in your other. No. Be Classy. Be like the French.

One last tip for the bustle. You should be able to spin a circle comfortably without stepping on any parts of your dress. It should not dramatically drag on the floor, or you won’t be able to dance

Get a Videographer

I love working with videographers and later viewing their videos. There are so many incredible talents out there. A few of my favorite with Complete Weddings and Events Sioux Falls are Scott, Ryan, Justin, and Spenser. I've worked with each many times, and I always love their final product!

Wedding films are an efficient way to preserve your love story.

Good Posture = Great Pictures!

Not only does good posture feel great, if makes you look wonderful! It turns lumps into curves; double chins into necks and it makes you look taller. I recommend 100% working on proper posture to improve your photographs.

I've got you covered! As your photographer, I'll let you know if you're slouching!

Even Number of Wedding Party Members

Pictures overall work best if you have an even number in the wedding party. For example 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen is an even wedding party. An uneven wedding party would be 3 bridesmaids and 3 groomsmen. Photos of bride + bridesmaids or groom+ groomsmen are visually unbalanced in odd-numbered wedding parties.

Consider a First Look

The first looks are wonderful for so many reasons. I feel like I'll need to post a more in-depth study on the pros and cons of fist looks. For now, here's the summary: having a first look allows your moment to be intimate, have all your formal photos taken before the ceremony, and there doesn’t need to be a long wait between the ceremony and reception.

My absolute favorite wedding days are where their ceremony is around 5 pm. Once the ceremony is done, everyone transitions to cocktail hour and dinner right away. Everyone loves it because there is no waiting around.

I have this idea: to play the couple’s first dance song over a Bluetooth speaker during the first look. The bride and groom can dance together. I think the dance would allow the couple to really have a moment alone together. At the end of the dance you know I will have half a million photos- so now your photo session is half done and we can go for a short walk to grab the rest of the pictures. I see this being a romantic and efficient way to capture some incredible images/cinema. If you a future bride of mine and are down to do this, PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Host an After Party

Everyone loves to have a good time on their wedding day- and nothing says a good time like a party bus. To avoid making your guests wait and your bridesmaid being overly intoxicated for the speeches, ask the party bus to arrive at your dance around 10:30 to 11 PM and take the party to the road. Let the older folks go to bed, and go bar hopping at the end of your wedding day.

Ok, that is all I have for you today. I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions on these tips! Leave them in the comment section down below!
