May the fourth be with you

Elizabeth Pyburn and Jason Stoos exchanged vows on Saturday, May 4th, 2019 in an outdoor ceremony at Nebraska State park in Ponca, Nebraska. Their ceremony was unlike any wedding ceremony I have ever had the pleasure of witnessing. The wedding party walked down the aisle followed by Liz whom was stunning in her beautiful lace dress and bear feet. Ok, her feet weren’t totally unprotected. She was wearing stunning lace straps like these! The interesting part about the processional was there was no officiant!

Guest were looking around like “OK, what is going on here?!” Liz’s mother stood up and explained for everyone: Liz and Jason had different ideas what their wedding day looked like. Liz wanted a wedding with their close friends and family while Jason wanted to have a destination wedding, something small and intimate for just the couple. As contrasting individuals (Liz with her free spirit, hippie spirit and Jason with his formal, military background) they found a compromise. The compromise was an informal, legal wedding at the local court house the Thursday before they were standing in front of us all- so at their wedding they were already married! Instead they exchanged vows with each other in front of their friends and family, sealed it with a kiss and were off to party!

As you may know, May 4th is Star Wars Day or “May the fourth be with you” spin off from the head line “may the force be with you.” Kids were running around with star wars masks, light sabers, and star wars themed cookies.
