“When in doubt, wear red.” - Fashion designer Bill Blass

There’s nothing like a red dress, lipstick, or pair of heels to help make one feel sexier. Just the hint of the color in your wardrobe will exude love, passion, power and even anger. The bold color comes in a variety of shades, and there’s one for everyone.

For as long as I can remember, the color red has been associated with love. Basic color character theory associates each color with a few characteristics with red being associated with Love, Passion, Energy, Excitement, Courage, Power, Hot, Anger, and Sexy.

No one knows when red started to become associated with love, but there are many theories why. First, red is the color of blood, which is related to the heart which has become a symbol of love. Second, when we feel a strong emotion, our face & body flushes red. Some more than others- a red face might mean anger, embarrassment, or intimacy.

Red has been a color of power and strength in recent history. It became popular with kings in the Middle Ages to show their God-given right to rule. Red became the color of regal majesty and power: Charlemagne wore red shoes at his coronation as a visible symbol of his authority. King Louis XIV is seen sporting red shoes in many of his official portraits.

It’s easy to see the many sides of the color red. Red emojis that come to mind are the red heart and the red face. It’s emotions are strong and literally in a love/hate relationship.

Regardless of what the studies say, it’s clear to me that red is a favorite in the boudoir scene. Many of the models at the Spearfish Boudoir Photoshoot chose to wear red.
