Adam's First Birthday | Cake Smash Session

Family Photographer: Brittany Schnell

Adam’s First Birthday

It’s time to celebrate Adam Nehl’s fist birthday!! To celebrate, the Nehl family threw a superhero birthday party. Marie & Robert took care of the food- providing fruit, meat & cheese and cupcakes for everyone to share with a whole cake just for Adam. Henry helped by providing decorations- a variety of superhero figurines, each about a foot tall.

Details

Here was our game plan: half an hour of photos of Adam & his immediate family followed by twenty minutes of photos with birthday party guests and ten minutes of cake smash. I loveeeeee having a game plan and this one was super fun & easy to follow through with.

I love spending time with the Nehls. Henry is always so full of energy. It’s been so fun watching the two boys grow & develop. It’s hard to believe Adam is a year old already. It feels like yesterday when we were taking maternity photos! Time flies!!

Outdoor Photos

… Just like Adam!! As soon as I heard the birthday theme, I knew we had to take Adam outside for his own superhero moment.

Marie planned photos with this classic red wagon. We weren’t sure how Adam would react to it, but he loved the ride!! He smiled the whole time :D

Family Photos

Back inside, Adam’s grandparents started arriving. He was so happy to see everyone!! He cuddled up with his Grandma Debra, and proceeded laps around the room, going from lap to lap.

Adam’s guestbook was a Dr. Seuss book that everyone signed the opening pages with colored sharpie markers. Actually, now that I think of it, I don’t think I signed it. I wish I would have!!

Cake Smash

For dessert, Adam got his very own cake. CAKE SMASH TIME!! He was very excited to get his hands on his cake. Starting with the frosting and working his way to the inside of the cake. After a few handfuls, he had enough and it was time to clean up.

Happy Birthday, Adam!! I hope this year is full of wonderful, new experiences! A huge THANK YOU to Marie and Robert for inviting me into their home for Adam’s birthday. Thank you so much for your continued support!!
