Summer South Dakota Family Photos Ft. Will, Heather and Chris Botha
Summer is here. Do you know what that means? Will, Heather, and Chris are finally going to take their family pictures! Heather said she has wanted family photos since Chris arrived (he’s seven by the way), but just hasn’t taken the time to make it happen.
The Botha’s and I started checking off our pre-planned locations. From an old, dilapidated barn; to a long set of railroad tracks, and finally back at home. At each location, we snapped photos that the trio has been thinking about for a long time!
Heather has a vision for her living room wall. We talked about how to execute her vision and brought it to life easily. I’m not sure if the Botha’s will chose to use these three photos, but they want pictures that go with the quote “My Heart, My World, My Everything”
One of the most American images I’ve ever taken: the family with an American flag, the Holy Bible, and each with a fire-arm. God. Bless. AMERICA!
Do you know what else comes with summer? Watermelon. Will showed us an older watermelon cutting technique he learned from his grandfather while growing up in South Africa. With this technique, all the kids would eat the watermelon on the outside while the adults enjoy the heart of the fruit. Way cool. No mess and the adults get the best part? Sign me up! PS this table was a homemade birthday gift from Will to Heather. So sweet! Happy Birthday Heather!
I hung around to see Chris ride his dirt bike. His motor skills and respect for the machine are impressive, to say the least. He was even doing jumps! It was also great to see Will and Heather supporting Chris do what he loves. I can tell the couple spends lots of time with their son. He is well-loved.
This entire session was photographed outside, which is where the Botha’s prefer to spend their time. They enjoy fishing, hunting, riding pedal bikes, motocross/ATV, grilling and anything else outdoors.
The Botha’s heard of me by word of mouth. So, one of the best ways you can support me is by sharing my photos with your friends & family and talking about me when you hear someone needs a photographer. A special thank you to Kayla O’Donnell for spreading the word!
Thank you to the Botha’s for trusting me to share your story. I had a wonderful morning with you three and I’m looking forward to the next time we get to see each other!
