The Women's Network: Learn — Connect — Empower

Judy Larson invited me to take pictures at The Women's Network event on January 18th at the Lemmon Library. She and Jasmin Fosheim created the event to bring women together from the communities of Lemmon and Hettinger.   It was sponsored by the Lemmon Area Charitable and Economic Development Corp (LACED), Lemmon Chamber, Hettinger Chamber and Adams County Economic Development (ACDC).  They would love to hear from you and can answer all your Women's Network questions.

Judy Larson

A few people trickled in after 10 am and Judy made a wonderful point that went something like this:

"Don't feel like you have to do traditional things like being on time, wear specific clothes or talk a specific way. We know life happens, and we are here walk through it with you."

Some people may believe in luck in a random sense, but I don't. I believe actions have consequences. Good actions have good consequences and bad actions have bad consequences. In the following context luck is less of a random chance and more like a seed, planted in your mind- with effort, it will grow.

We broke out into “luck circles”-- groups of 4-5 women. Each woman was asked to present a problem and the others would each take turns giving advice or “luck”. I personally loved this part of the day. It was great to get feedback on my problem (booking local weddings) from those in my group. The thing that stuck out to me the most was consistency in posting and staying on the path that I'm currently on. To help with consistency I've developed a new organization system for social media posts.

To support our other Female owned or operated businesses, we stopped down at the Current Connection to hear from Kim Anderson, and then shopped at Smith’s Drug and The Flower Box/Romancin’ the Range. All three places have a wonderful stock of available goods- shop local!

Hopefully, there will be many more Women's Network opportunities in the future. The next event will be held on February 8th at the Community Promotions office in Hettinger.   Check in with  Jasmin Fosheim at the ACDC office for more info.

A special thanks to Dave Johnson from LACED for providing pastries for everyone to enjoy and Shasta Marie Designs for providing printable uplifting designs to everyone in attendance.

Thank you to Raven and the Lemmon Library for providing a meeting place. I promise to use my inside voice next time I stop by ;)

Thank you to Judy and Jasmin for all the hard work you put into making this event happen. I'm looking forward to the next one.
