The Perfect Wedding Day: Ashley + Dusty

Ashley and Dustin Frank had the most country wedding I have ever been to. It was classy and country and I am here for it.

We kicked off the day getting ready. The ladies and girls in one area, the men and boys in another. It’s no surprise that the men were finished ready first- they were ready before I arrived. But the ladies were well worth the wait. They were stunning all day and night long.

I loved watching the flower girls get LipSense (a cult favorite among wedding goers) put on for the first time. The whole process was such a big deal for them.

The ceremony was held at St. Stephens Catholic Church, a quaint little church just south of Richardton, North Dakota. Ashley and Dusty decided to wait to see each other until the ceremony. Their first glimpse of each other left the room without a dry eye.

We used bubbles to celebrate. The wind was less than cooperative, but teamwork makes the dream work. Check out these neat shots!

The Wix barn is just a short drive up the road from St. Stephen’s Church. The photogenic opportunities at the Wix barn meant we didn’t need to go anywhere for wedding party or couple’s photos. We did have some guests join us- Ashley and Dusty’s horses. (You might remember them from their engagement session!)

This group was so fun. I felt more like a photojournalist than a posey photographer during this part of the day-something hard to do during formal photos, and it had nothing to do with me, and everything to do with the group (and horses). wow! run-on sentence? I think so! What I’m trying to say is: these people didn’t take me asking them to laugh and have a good time with each other because they already were. I bet Schmitt/Frank BBQs and family outings are the best. Sign me up anytime!

A few minutes alone with Ashley and Dusty = photographic magic. I know- they are wizards. That’s all we needed, a few minutes. Less time taking pictures= more time partying.

The reception was wild in the best way. Food, drink, drink, toasts, and dancing were the highlights of the night.

To me, first dances are one of the most emotional parts of the day. I think there is something raw about being in someone’s embrace for so long.

Everyone at this wedding knew how to dance. All the ladies were kickin’ it in their boots and the fella’s knew how to swing around. I was impressed to see a live band, shout out to The Cody Charles Band for keeping the dance floor full all night.

Congratulations to Ashley and Dusty. I’m happy you two have found love and a life together. I wish you joy, health, and perfect ranching & farming conditions.

Safe travels visiting your family this Christmas season!
